This was the first weekend for snow-shoeing or cross country skiing at Northerly Island along the Chicago Lakefront.
The Chicago Park District rents equipment for $5 for up to two hours on a first-come, first-served basis with valid identification.
You can also bring your own skis or snow shoes.
The event will be held at Northerly Island for the next five weekends, as long as there’s a minimum of three-inches of snow on the ground.
