CHICAGO -- A famous Chicago actor and a singing sensation were among the thousands who came out Sunday to take an icy dip into Lake Michigan.
Despite the bitter cold, North Avenue Beach was the place to be Sunday morning for the annual Polar Plunge.
Some 4,000 people committed to taking the plunge to support the Special Olympics, including actor Vince Vaughn and singer Lady Gaga.
The star of the new movie "Unfinished Business" took the plunge while wearing a Chicago Blackhawks sweater.
More than $1 million were raised during the event, WGN was told.
