Smash-and grab thieves steal more than $425K in jewels from Woodfield store

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Two smash-and-grab thieves got away with more than $425,000 worth of diamonds and gems at a jewelry store in Schaumburg.

They used hammers to smash display cases at Jared The Galleria of Jewelry in the Woodfield mall Tuesday evening, while the store was still open.

They men grabbed loose diamonds and semi-mounted precious stones, and ran off.

Police are trying to get detailed descriptions of the two men.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Schaumburg police at 847-895-4500.
