CHICAGO — The son of a Chicago police officer is being laid to rest this week, as reward money increases for information leading to the young man’s killer.

The wake and funeral for 19-year-old college student Arshell Dennis III are set for Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

Dennis was visiting his ailing mother at her home on the South Side last week when he was shot to death as he sat on his front porch with a friend.

Police say it was either a case of mistaken identity or part of a gang initiation.

The reward for information leading to the arrest of Dennis’ killer has grown to $13,000.
