SKOKIE, Ill. -- Skokie police are looking for a man who is missing two fingers in connection with an attempted child abduction.

The 13-year-old girl told police the man approached her as she was leaving Old Orchard Junior High School on Tuesday.

She said he asked her for directions to a restaurant, then grabbed her and pulled her toward his SUV.

The girl hit him with padlocks she had in her backpack, and ran off.

Police say the man is heavy-set, has an accent and is missing two fingers on his right hand.

Investigators are checking to see if there is any surveillance video in the area.
