CHICAGO -- Illinois State Police are investigating the 11th shooting on the Eisenhower Expressway of the year.

At about 11 a.m. Monday, all inbound lanes from Independence to Sacramento were closed while police searched for shell casings. The lanes reopened just after 2 p.m.

Preliminary information indicates that two vehicles traveling eastbound on the Ike were shooting at each other. One vehicle became involved in a property damage crash and exited at Sacramento. The other car continued eastbound.

So far, no victims have been reported.

Illinois Sate Police say this is the 47th expressway shooting of the year in the Chicago-area, which is up sharply from 2012, where there were only nine expressway shootings.
