Severe thunderstorms expected for parts of Chicagoland

CHICAGO —  Severe weather is developing across the Chicago area.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for a large portion of the Chicago area until 10 p.m. Monday.

The counties affected are Boone, Bureau, Carroll, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Henry, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Knox, Lasalle, Lee, Marshall, McHenry, Mercer, Ogle, Putnam, Rock Island, Stark, Stephenson, Whiteside, Will and Winnebago.


Nickel size hail and wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph will be possible with some of these storms.
