Man killed, teen critically injured in Melrose Park shooting

MELROSE PARK, Ill. -- Two people were shot, one fatally, in Melrose Park overnight.

Police responded to the 1100 block of North 24th Street for a 'shots fired' call.

Witnesses say that a man approached a vehicle near an alley and began firing shots.

The 21-year-old man and 14-year-old boy inside the vehicle were shot and transported to area hospitals.

The 21-year-old was later pronounced dead at Gottlieb Hospital.

The 14-year-old is in critical condition.

There is no known motive for the shooting at this time. The incident is under investigation.

One suspect is in custody.
