CRESTWOOD, Ill. – A settlement has been reached in the lawsuits involving the village of Crestwood and its decades-long use of contaminated well water in its drinking supply.
Crestwood agreed to pay $15 million to those affected by contaminated water.
For years, residents didn’t know why so many residents were becoming sick. At least 60 people died. It wasn’t until years later that it became known
Crestwood’s drinking water contained vinyl chloride- a cancer causing chemical. Some city officials knew about it, some lied about it and covered it up.
Over 300 plaintiffs were listed and today the people of Crestwood can now finally try to put this nightmare behind them.
