Series of ATM Robberies on Chicago’s South Side

Police have issued a community alert after five robberies took place at ATM’s in several locations on Chicago’s South Side.

According to police, victims were robbed while getting money out of ATMs outside of bank lobbies. In each case there have been between one and three offenders. Their ages range from 17 to 50 years old. The offenderstake the money by force, and in some cases show or imply they have weapons.

Recent attacks happened at the following locations:

  • 8400 S. Stony Island
  • 6900 S. Ashland
  • 800 W. 87th
  • 8600 S. Cottage Grove
  • 700 E. 87th

Chicago police are warning bank customers to be on alert and pay attention, not use an ATM alone, and to use  an ATM that is behind a locked door that requires your ATM card.
