Porter County, IN.-- Divers are hoping to resume their search today for a young woman from Carol Stream who likely drowned off Porter Beach in the Indiana Dunes. Officials say it is now a recovery effort, not a rescue.

Chase Froese, 20, disappeared Friday evening when she and two friends went for a swim.

Officials say the three woman began to struggle in the water, with three- to five-foot waves and a strong rip current. Good Samaritans were able to rescue two of the women, but Froese disappeared from sight.

Authorities had to suspend their search for part of the day yesterday because of lake conditions.

Officials say sometimes it can take weeks to find a drowning victim.
