Authorities are considering bringing charges against a group of Barrington middle school students who have been “sexting.”

“(A small group).. were recently involved in sexting inappropriate images among themselves using their smartphones,” said BMS-Station Campus principal Craig Winkelman, in an email to parents.

Winkelman confirmed a handful of eighth graders sent inappropriate images among themselves.

Parents said it started with a female student sharing a provocative photo with a boy who then shared it with others.

Some students were victimized and are receiving counseling, according to Winkelman.

The principal said disciplinary actions could be severe and those could include criminal charges.

Winkelman said the families of the students involved have been contacted.
