BURBANK, Ill. –  Alums, students and parents of a Catholic school in far south suburban Burbank is hoping to stop the school’s closure.

Queen of Peace High School, an all-girls Catholic school, is set to close in June after decades in operation.

More than 400 people attended a meeting at the school. Monday night.

The meeting was an opportunity to discuss ideas on how to save the school, but so far there is no concrete plan and it has current students facing an uncertain future.

WGN cameras were not allowed in the meeting, but people who were inside say that the alums are exploring ways to raise enough money or find another facility to keep the Queen of Peace name alive at least until the current freshman are finished.

The next step they say is to form a committee that will work with the administration to explore options.
