CHICAGO -- The developers of George Lucas' museum may be looking west.

At least one city official in San Francisco now says, the city has opened new talks with Lucas' people about building the new museum there.

"We have a chance to bring him back.  I want to be open and positive about it," said San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee.

Chicago's proposal for a lakefront site is being held up by a lawsuit by Friends of the Parks, which objects to the use of valuable lakefront property for a private commercial venture.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel turned to the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals last week in an effort to have the parks group's lawsuit dismissed so that Lucas won't build his museum in another city.

Friends of the Parks says the case should be decided in federal court, where it originally filed its complaint.

San Francisco's proposed alternative is Treasure Island, a decommissioned naval base.

Los Angeles is also interested in housing the museum as well.
