Craigslist buyers and sellers now have a safe place to make their transactions: in the parking lot and lobby of the East Chicago Police Headquarters.

Officers can be present too, and make sure for-sale items weren’t stolen.

Authorities say the program is in response to safety threats against people linked to the deals, since assaults and robberies can happen.

People can make the transactions Monday through Saturday.
