CHICAGO — The family of a man fatally shot on a Chicago expressway this fall is offering a reward for information about his killer.

Family and friends of Jonathon Ortiz, known by his stage name as John Doe, announced the reward Tuesday and released balloons in memory of the slain Chicago rapper.

Ortiz was gunned down September 29th on the Eisenhower Expressway around 6 a.m. He and his girlfriend Alexis Garcia were heading to breakfast.

She was shot in the back. She continues to recover.

Ortiz’ mom Jacqueline announced the family is now offering a $2,000 dollar reward for a tip that leads to an arrest and conviction.

“I’m not looking for vengeance. I’m looking for justice,” she said.

Ortiz had performed earlier in September. His shooting is one of 47 on Chicago expressways this year, a number that has outpaced recent years.
