Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr. joined several peace organizations for a rally on the South Side, Friday.
Jackson, Saint Sabina’s Father Michael Pfleger, and the mother of slain teen Hadiya Pendleton also took part in a march later that night.
Hadiya was killed in a Kenwood park near President Obama’s home about a week after participating in his inaugural festivities in Washington D.C.
Hadiya’s mother, Cleo Pendleton, says she fears Illinois’ new concealed-carry law will make the violence in Chicago worse.
Father Pfleger urged businesses, churches, and homeowners to protest the law by posting signs at their front doors saying “no guns allowed.”
