CHICAGO — Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson has rejected the civil review board’s recommendation to fire controversial Officer Robert Rialmo.
Rialmo fired the shots that killed Quintonio LeGrier, 19, and his neighbor Bettie Jones in late 2015.
The Chicago Tribune obtained a letter that says Johnson believes the officer was justified because LeGrier was armed with a baseball bat. The president of the Fraternal Order of Police on Tuesday agreed with Johnson’s findings.
