CHICAGO — A glass of wine may help people with type 2 diabetes.
New research suggests a glass of red wine can improve cardiac health, manage cholesterol and help get better sleep.
The findings were published in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine.
The study found diabetics who drank a glass of wine nightly had increased levels of good cholesterol.
A glass of wine a day has been considered beneficial for some time, but the new research claims red wine has more benefits than white.
Even though both red and white wine have similar alcohol levels per serving, researchers said red is more beneficial since it has more plant-based compounds than white wine.
Diabetics participating in the study who drank a glass of red wine at night had fewer symptoms of metabolic syndrome.
