President Obama and First Lady  Michelle Obama say they were victims of racism long before they landed in the White House.

The first couple opened up to People magazine about some experiences they had here in Chicago.

President Obama said he’s been mistaken for a waiter at gala events.

The first couple also revealed that the President had trouble catching a cab when they lived on the city’s South Side.
