CHICAGO — A plan to redevelop Chicago’s old main post office building is now ready to proceed.

Under the plan, finalized Thursday, an investment group will buy the crumbling old building over the Congress Parkway.

It will spend half a billion dollars turning it into offices, an events center, a fitness center, outdoor cafes, a rooftop park, and even a river walk.

If everything goes according to schedule, the first tenants will move in sometime in 2018.
