Possible mumps cases reported at 2 suburban schools

Two suburban schools are dealing with possible cases of mumps.

Parents of Evanston Township High School students were sent letters alerting them

That someone in the school may have contracted the disease.

A 12-year-old from Fremont Middle School in Mundelein returned to school on Monday after a probable case of mumps.

As of last week, at least 65 mumps cases have been confirmed in the state.

Mumps is contagious but it is not common among school-aged kids who are up to date on their vaccinations.
