The deadline to register to vote in next month’s general election is Tuesday.

The Cook County Clerk’s office says it has received about 12,000more suburban Cook County voter registrations since June than it did during the same period four years ago.

That was the last time voters picked a governor for Illinois.

Almost 3,000 of those registrations were the result of the new on-line voter registration application system.
