CHICAGO — Donald Trump is speaking out about the slaying of Dwyane Wade’s cousin.

On Saturday the Republican presidential nominee took to Twitter to politicize the fatal shooting of Nykea Aldridge, 32, a mother of four and cousin of the Chicago Bulls star. “Dwyane Wade’s cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago. Just what I have been saying. African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!”

On Friday Aldridge and a man were walking in the 6300 block of South Calumet Avenue about 3:30 p.m. when two men approached and someone began firing at the man. Aldridge, was struck in the head and arm. She was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she later died.

Trump’s comment came just days after he put a spotlight on Chicago’s violence, claiming the Chicago Police Department is not “tough” enough in fighting crime.

The New York businessman has also been making pleas to minority voters for November’s election. In remarks earlier this month Trump repeatedly asked black voters to choose him, saying, “What the hell do you have to lose?”

On Saturday Wade too spoke out again about the shooting, adding the hashtag, #EnoughIsEnough.
