WAUCONDA, Ill --    A suspect is in custody after he allegedly threatened to lure police back to his home and blow them up, sparking an evacuation of the area, police say.

Residents are returning to their homes after police ordered them to evacuate the area surrounding the suspect's home on the 400 block of Lakeshore Drive.

The Waukegan Bomb Squad and Illinois State Police SWAT assisted the Wauconda Police Department in searching the home and surrounding area for explosives before issuing the all-clear. Investigators are still processing the scene.

Police said the suspect told them he is terminally ill and hates politicians and the police.
