CHICAGO — Two people were arrested after Chicago police chased a car through the South Side after reports of an attempted carjacking.

The incident started at 102 Street and Union Avenue in the Fernwood neighborhood with a reported carjacking and ended near 99th and Halsted streets in Washington Heights around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

SkyCam9 was over the high-speed pursuit until it ended near the Bishop Ford expressway. At that point, two occupants of a maroon Volkswagen Jetta got out and attempted to run from police. It appeared the Volkswagen was an Uber. At one point it was traveling at 100 miles per hour.

The two people who got out of the car tried to run from the scene. One of them tried to run onto the ramp, and the other took off in the opposite direction into the backyard of a home nearby and then through the gangways onto a side street, where an officer caught up with him.

Both men were taken into custody.

No other information was provided.
