An Ohio man is being held on $2 million bond after police say he attempted to buy at 10-year-old girl for sexual purposes.

Fox 8 Cleveland reports that Robert Thomas, 36, posted a message online asking if anyone would be willing to arrange a “marriage” of their daughter to him. A police officer engaged in a conversation with Thomas.

Investigators say that Thomas told the officer he wanted to keep the girl permanently at his home, and engage in sexual conduct with her, and to “train her to please him.”

Police say Thomas eventually offered to pay $400 in cash for a 10-year-old girl, and arranged to meet with the officer in Alliance, Ohio. He arrived with cash in hand and was then arrested by several undercover officers.

Thomas will be arraigned in Alliance Municipal Court on Monday.
