Police: Missing college athlete died on L.A. freeway

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Police say a University of California, Berkeley soccer player who disappeared after a weekend party was killed by a car while he was on foot on a Los Angeles freeway.

Police on Monday confirmed the death of 19-year-old freshman Eloi  Vasquez.

Vasquez was killed early Saturday on Interstate 10 near the University of Southern California, but the coroner could not immediately identify the body and police had been investigating Vasquez’s disappearance.
