RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Two people were killed and three were injured Sunday after a police-involved shooting in River Forest.
Authorities say a 24-year-old-man and a 60-year-old man were killed. Two officers were injured.
Police said the 24-year-old was the alleged gunman. His mother, a 59-year-old woman, was also injured in the shooting and was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. The 60-year-old man’s relationship to the gunman is not know.
According to authorities the incident began when there was a 911 call from the 59-year-old woman who was said she had shortness of breath. When police arrived after the ambulances, the officers were ambushed.
The incident is being investigated by the River Forest Police Department with assistance from the Oak Park Police Department.
