HUNTLEY, Ill. — The children who claimed they were targeted in an alleged bullying incident in Huntley have recanted their story, police said.

The boys initially reported that two teens bullied them in the park area adjacent to the Stingray Bay water park. They claimed the 8-year-old was duct-taped to the pole and the 6-year-old had his candy stolen.

In reality, the brothers were playing with duct tape they had brought from their home. The younger boy sought help from a park worker to free the 8-year-old.

The boys later told police they were playing a game. Due to their ages, there will be no criminal charges.
