CHICAGO — Two little girls received a very special birthday party thanks to the Chicago Police Department.

Last Sunday, some 007th District officers discovered three young girls alone in an abandoned house. They are ages 7, 2 and 1 year old.

While their grandmother was more than willing to take them in, her resources are limited after recently losing her job.

So Chicago police stepped up. They brought clothes, food, toys, diapers and even furniture to the grandmother’s home all week to help out. They purchased the items for them on their own, and donated money for supermarket gift cards.

When the officers learned that two of the girls shared a birthday, they got involved and threw an impromptu birthday party. Officers gave the girls birthday presents and celebrated with cake and icre cream.

The police department shared photos of the birthday party on its Facebook page and said, “These officers have shown compassion and generosity that is rarely captured. They make us proud to be CPD!”
