A photo of a woman hiding on her roof from a man who allegedly broke into her home in Venice, Calif., has gone viral.
The picture was taken by Alex Thompson Wednesday and posted to her Twitter account @Venice311. She told KTLA she uses the Twitter account to keep the people of Venice informed about what’s going on in the community.

Thompson talked to KTLA about what she saw: “I saw a girl with no pants on cowering up on the roof, so immediately I thought, ‘There’s the suspect, OK.’ So I got off my bike and started taking pictures and then we realized she’s the victim — that’s the burglar.”
Thompson continued: “And the scary thing for me is if someone is going to break into your house while you’re asleep in the morning, and you flee — she had the wherewithal to leave, to flee — and that person follows you on to the roof, what do you think is going to happen?”
The woman, identified as Melora Rivera, also had the wherewithal to take her cell phone with her. She called police and they were on the scene of the incident quickly.
A woman being pursued by a transient who allegedly broke into her Venice home on Wednesday hid on a second-story roof until help arrived, dramatic photos posted to social media showed.
Later, police arrested Christian Hicks, 29. He faces felony charges and is being held on $50,000 bail.
