Peace in the Park After Dark while violence continues in the city

Another night of police dealing with injured youth.

But also last night, officers and the community’s youth came together for peace.

The 5th annual Peace in the Park After Dark event was held at Nat King Cole Park, where members of the community and law enforcement get together to raise awareness about peace in the community.

However, miles away from the sleepover, violence in the city continued overnight.

About 11:35 Friday night, A 25 year old man was shot in a fast food parking lot near 35th and Indiana.

Witnesses say the suspect walked up the victim on foot and fired several shots at him before running away.

About an hour later near 72nd and Laflin, a 16 year old girl standing with friends was shot in the head by someone in a passing car.

No suspects are in custody in either case.
