CHICAGO — A person was injured when an abandoned building collapsed on Chicago’s West Side Thursday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the three-story brick building at the corner of Pulaski Road and 5th Avenue just after 10 a.m.
The injured man was found near the building but fire officials weren’t sure whether he had been inside.
He was transported Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
Early reports that someone might be trapped in the building were “unfounded,” fire officials said.
By 11 a.m., the fire department officially turned the scene over to the Department of Buildings.
