GARY, Ind. – A barn in Gary, Indiana, burned to the ground overnight, killing four horses and critically injuring another in the blaze.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

Firefighters responded to the Quarter Circle JK Ranch around midnight as large flames engulfed the barn. As a result, four horses perished and one is in critical condition at an animal hospital at Purdue University in West Lafayette large animal hospital.

The owners of the barn made it out safely.

Fundraising efforts are underway to help with the damages.
