Over 40 arrests made after day-long party at UMass gets out of control

An annual party at University of Massachusetts in Amherst  lead to over 40 arrests over the weekend after the party became “out of control,” according to CBS Boston.

The party, known as the Blarney Blowout, is described as an “all day drinking party” in Amherst .

HandcuffsPolice, wearing riot gear, reportedly shut down streets and used  tear gas on the crowd, CBS Boston reports.

The university released a statement saying, “The University of Massachusetts Amherst today denounced the unruly behavior of participants in the unsanctioned ‘BlarneyBlowout.’”

CBS Boston says most of those arrested were charged with failing to disperse.
