Oscar-winning ‘Titanic’ composer James Horner dies in plane crash

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- The Oscar-winning composer James Horner has died in a small plane crash.

Horner was flying his plane Monday,  when it went down in a remote area near Santa Barbara, California.

It's still not clear what caused the crash.

Horner won two Academy Awards for the movie "Titanic."

He has been nominated 10 times.

He's scored numerous blockbuster films like "Braveheart," "Avatar" and "Field of Dreams."

He was 61.

Celebrities including Ron Howard, Seth MacFarlane and Russell Crowe used social media to pay tribute to Horner's memory.
