Off-duty cop shoots intruder in her home

squad-car-lightsAn off-duty police officer shot a male intruder in her home in Chicago’s Wrightwood neighborhood.

At about 9:40 a.m. Friday, the officer was awakened by noises coming from the first floor of her home. She went to investigate and discovered an intruder removing items.

The woman identified herself as an officer and ordered the intruder to raise his hands in the air, but instead the intruder charged her.

The intruder was transported in serious Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

The officer was not injured.
