A disagreement between a passenger and an American Airlines flight attendant is drawing attention on social media.

Mariana, Brandon and their 4-month-old daughter were making a connecting flight in Chicago after spending a week in Europe.

During the flight from O’Hare to Phoenix,  Mariana was using a breast pump in the plane’s restroom when she says the flight attendant rudely demanded she get out.

Mariana says she explained to the flight attendant what she was doing but the attendant returned and told her she needed to get out of the bathroom.

Mariana says she picked up her IPad to record the confrontation after she felt the flight attendant was rude to her and was making fun of her accent.

She then posted it on YouTube.

She says she decided to record the conversation because she wanted her name and information to complain.

After filing a complaint with the airline, the couple got a letter back that said in part:

Policies and procedures are a necessary part of our operation. However, we expect our employees to apply these policies and procedures with the utmost courtesy and professionalism — rudeness or unprofessional behavior by one of our employees will not be tolerated!’

The airline told WGN News, “As a matter of policy, we fully support a mother`s right to express milk in any of our facilities.”

While the airline says it does not comment on personal issues it did say they have looked at the video and will use it as a teachable moment.
