Dozens of Northwestern football players voted today on whether to unionize, but we won’t know the results for a while.

There is intense interest in this. Actually a pretty wild scene in Evanston today. You’re correct that we won’t officially know the result, pending a labor board ruling. But if you believe the buzz coming out of Northwestern, and in this case, we probably should, the vast majority of players are saying no to a union.

Northwestern’s athletic director released a statement a short time ago saying the university appreciates all the players who came out today and allowed their voices to be heard.

The question, do they want to be represented by the College Athletes Players Association? The answer appears to be a resounding no, but again, we won’t hear the vote until we hear from the national labor relations board.
