North Chicago teen shot & killed

The victim in this shooting just 15-years-old, an 8th grader. North Chicago Police say they are talking to a few people but so far they have no arrests.

If you happened to look down this North Chicago alley at dusk tonight, you’d find a family gathered together saying their goodbyes to 15-year-old Travon Beech.

We going to miss you Travon love you.

He was shot dead here very early Thursday morning. His family says he was with friends earlier that night. North Chicago police haven’t said if he was by himself when he was shot.

Travon’s aunt says, “Somebody was with him, they need to speak up that’s why we standing nobody’s telling.”

The 8th graders family says he enjoyed football and basketball but recently had been staying out late. They also say he had been in trouble with police. And the shooting may have been gang related.

“Travon he was overall a good kid, he went to school was an average teen you know, some make mistakes in life.”

We spoke to the 15-year-olds cousin outside Travon’s North Chicago home. It was Jamal’s mom that talked to Travon last he says, around 9p.m. Wednesday night. It’s hard to believe he is gone.

Slowly however it is sinking in. His cousin, her brother, her son and her nephew…is now gone.
