Schaumburg Police Chief Brian Howertown will not be charged with stalking his ex-girlfriend.

Schaumburg’s Office of Professional Standards investigated the woman’s claim that Howerton threatened her, followed her and sat in a squad car outside her house for hours at a time.

But the only evidence investigators could find, suggested that Howerton violated the policy against allowing visitors at the police station for non-work related activities.

Howerton plans to retire Friday.
