Motorcyclist dies after striking deer on I-94

CHICAGO -- A man has died after being seriously injured when his motorcycle fatally struck a deer on the Edens Expressway near north suburban Northfield early Thursday morning.

The man was driving a motorcycle in the southbound lanes of Interstate 94 when he struck a deer near Willow Road around 12:20 a.m., according to Illinois State Police.

The man, whose exact age was not available, was taken in serious condition to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The deer died as a result of the crash, police said.

The southbound lanes of I-94 were closed for several hours while officials investigated the accident. They reopened at just after 5:30 a.m.
