NEWTOWN, Conn. – Today marks the third anniversary of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
On Dec. 14, 2012, 20 children and six adults were killed by shooter Adam Lanza. Lanza shot his own mother at home before mounting his attack at the school. He then turned his gun on himself as police closed in.
It was the deadliest mass shooting at a high school or grade school in U.S. history.
Newtown officials are keeping the anniversary low-key.the high school and middle school principals will address it this morning. And there will be an interfaith community service tonight.
