CHICAGO -- It's just 10 days before Christmas Eve and that means one thing for postal workers: The busiest mailing day of the year.
70,000 priority packages are being processed through Chicago’s main post office today. It’s a double digit increases from last year.
Across the country today the postal service will see 612 million pieces of mail, from first class letters to priority packages.
And this holiday season keeps the machines at Chicago's main post office humming and some later nights for workers who have seen a nearly 12 percent increase in packages this year.
And if you're looking to give something special, The Santa Letters program is here. Kids in need from around the area wrote to Santa with requests. Santa could use the help getting some of those gifts given.
Shipping deadlines for Christmas delivery is December 21st for letters and cards and December 23rd for Priority Express packages.
