Detectives are calling an overnight shooting in Little Village a double homicide and attempted suicide.

Juan Carlos Eguez, 27, an Iraq War veteran, allegedly shot and killed his 5-year-old daughter Karla and his 28-year-old estranged wife Kelly Coca.

The child and her mother were pronounced dead at the scene.

Eguez suffered an apparently self-inflicted gunshot to the head and is in critical condition at Mt. Sinai Hospital.

The three were found in Coca’s apartment in the 2800 block of South Kildare just after midnight by relatives in an upstairs unit who heard shouting.

“I want to be angry, it’s just that I can’t be.  I’m just very saddened right now,” Kelly Coca’s cousin, Claudio Cossio, said.  “I hope he lives so that he can acknowledge what he has done.”

Police have not been able to speak to Juan Carlos Eguez yet, and no charges have been filed.
