MILWAUKEE — A teacher’s aide was arrested after he attacked a 14-year-old student in the classroom.
That happened at Bay View High School in Milwaukee.
Another student got it on video and shared it with WGN’s sister station in Milwaukee on Wednesday.
The video shows the teacher’s aide shoving the student into a chair during an argument.
The man then puts his hands near the boy’s neck as he pushes him down to the floor.
The teacher can be heard yelling obscenities several times.
“They kept on arguing and getting into each other’s faces,” one witness said.
“The student was cussing at him and everything and he was like ‘come on — let’s go in the hallway,” said another student. “First he pushed him, then he slammed him on the floor and was holding him down.”
Students say school security had to come break up the fight.
Tony Tagliavia, a spokesperson for Milwaukee Public Schools, issued a statement:
“MPS finds this incident deeply disturbing. As soon as the school administration was notified of the incident, the Milwaukee Police Department was contacted and the staff member was removed from the classroom. We are cooperating with MPD. This staff member – who is a paraprofessional (teacher aide) – faces disciplinary action, including termination.”
The teacher’s aide was arrested for physical abuse of a child. No charges have been filed.
The student was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
