GRAYSLAKE, Ill. — A woman from Grayslake is facing felony charges after police say she attacked a Metra conductor.

Irene Ruiz was charged with felony battery to a transit employee.

It started Sept. 12  as an argument over a fare; the female conductor says Ruiz complained that the woman’s hair was in her face; then she got off, grabbed the conductor’s hair, threw her to the platform and kicked her in the head.

Ruiz claims it was self-defense.
