Pedestrian struck, killed by Metra train in Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metra train in Downers Grove.

All inbound and outbound Metra BNSF trains are moving again at Main Street in Downers Grove after the accident.

Train #1252,  was scheduled to arrive at Chicago’s Union Station at 8:34 a.m. Wednesday, but was halted near Downers Grove due to the train striking a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, who has been identified as a male, was hit by an eastbound train. No further information has been released.

Metra is reporting that “an extra train is on the move” – but it will not be making station stops at Highlands, Congress Park or LaVergne.
