yogaA small study suggests yoga may benefit people with a type of irregular heartbeat known as Atrial Fibrillation, or AF.

Researchers studied 52 patients with AF who received three months of stable medical therapy, followed by three months of yoga training.

Twenty-two percent of the patients who had an AF episode during the control period had no episodes during the yoga period.

And at the end of the yoga period there were significant improvements in several quality of life measures, such as social functioning, mental health and significant reductions in heart rate and blood pressure.
